Internet News | Yahoo Cuts

The latest Internet news….

Yahoo continues to reduce its work force by 4% that will affect 600 people. Whilst rival google announced a 10% pay increase for every member of staff.

Indeed whilst the internet continues to grow it seems that Yahoo continues to miss the mark with only 2% growth in the year that saw Google grow by a staggering 23%

Yahoo just keeps getting it wrong unfortunately. Just a few years ago in 2008 Yahoo rejected a thirty billion dollar bid from microsoft and today is combined value of shares totals around twenty two billion dollars.

Whilst we also heard of some operational problems in their UK social media department we can see that other social media properties like YouTube, Twitter and Facebook continue to grab the cash and the headlines with hundreds of millions of users flocking to those services it seems that Yahoos models are just not taking off in the same way.

Lets hope that they fare better in 2011, we wish them well – and no doubt some of those 600 will find employment at Microsoft and Google.

To stay abreast of developments as they happen, it is easy to subscribe, share or like this video, go ahead and do that now.

This is interesting … This is interesting but I like it cause it’s more in the informal sense. Not necessarily relevant but definitely interesting and well made. The views expressed seem to go with the topic In my mind as well. The Santa also added a believable sense while staying with the holidays. I agree yahoo is becoming more of a monetary victim and it’s recent glean for mail users is rather pathetic.

Thanks for the … Thanks for the insight and just telling it like it is. Yahoo big shots need to wake
up before they can’t. I would be highly irritated if I was a shareholder.

Ya who again? Yahoo … Ya who again? Yahoo has always had issues. Like others here, I’m not at all surprised that they have not fared better than they have. I highly doubt they will ever rise to the level that Google has.

It seems like … It seems like Google’s success has been its ability to find a niche where no other company has provided a service. Yahoo should hire some people who can research a market that no company has tapped into and go there….like myspace and facebook did several years ago.

I think the big … I think the big difference is the yahoo search vs. google search. They just don’t have many people using their search engines.
