Search Engine Marketing News | Steve Jobs Medical Problems affect Apple Stock

The latest Search Engine Marketing News is that Steve Jobs is taking time off from Apple for medical reasons again.

The first time, he came back with a new operating system, the second time it was the ipad, I can¹t wait to see what he come back with this time.

Seriously though it’s sad to hear that Steve Jobs is to take time off from the helm of Apple yet again.

Stock markets reactions have been mixed the share price has dropped off 2.3% yet 95% of wall streets analysts are still recommending Apple as a strong buy or buy.

I am sure that he will be back, I had the privilege of giving him a design award in Britain for the ipod and despite taking time off, he looks as good today as he did then.

There are some people who by pursing their own unique passions for excellence and devotion to understanding and caring about people have become our leaders and our sources of inspiration. Steve Jobs is one of those.

Search Engine Marketing News | Yahoo's Revenues Continue to Fall

It becomes even more clear as yahoo shares continue to fall that shortly they are bound to be the target of a takeover bid sometime soon

Although Yahoo’s fourth-quarter earnings more than doubled, the Internet company’s revenue crumbles, showing that it’s still struggling to cash in on online advertising.

With less money coming into the company, Yahoo has laid off more than 700 workers in the past two months. The latest cutbacks came Tuesday, with Yahoo laying off 100 to 150 employees, roughly 1% from a work force that totalled 13,600 people at the end of December.

Yahoos chief financial officer Tim Morse says “We are on the right path… We are transitioning into a different company, and that is going to take some time.”

Yahoo predicted its net revenue during the first quarter will decline by 4% to 10% from last year.

If it wasn’t for the cutbacks and the Microsoft partnership, Morse said Yahoo’s fourth-quarter revenue would have increased by 2% to 3% from the prior year.

Even if it had that additional revenue, Yahoo would still be far behind other Internet companies that have more attractive services for marketers.

As yahoo continues its decline Google and Facebook, in particular, have been growing rapidly during the same period.

Google’s revenue rose 26% in the fourth quarter to $8.4 billion — surpassing Yahoo’s total of $6.3 billion for the entire year. Google is doing so well that it plans to hire more employees this year in what will be the biggest expansion in its 12-year history.

Facebook is still privately held, but recently raised $1.5 billion in a deal put together by Goldman Sachs Group Inc. It was revealed that Facebook’s 2010 revenue would more than double from $777 million in previous year.

Facebook News | Facebook want to Trademark the Word Face

Have you heard the latest Facebook News? Facebook Wants To Trademark the word Face…

In the online world of openness and sharing, and in particular the greatest exponent of social media, facebook is planning to trademark law to stop people trading online with the word ‘face’.

This action is designed to forcibly close down the use of face in the naming of online sites and services used to exchange messages.

The US Patent and Trademark Office has sent a Notice of Allowance which means that they have agreed to grant the Face trademark to Facebook.

On the surface it seems bizarre that it should be possible to trademark such a common word, the USPTO, the body that counts has granted its approval, and that is everything that facebook wanted.

I think I might apply for Web, as in weboptimiser, perhaps apple may apply for App, Microsoft for Micro, although dated, Wind for Windows may be more appropriate.

Technology News | Tablets kick-start tech trends for 2011 at CES

Have you heard the latest Technology News? Asus, the company who are credited with kickstarting the netbook market plan to launch four more devices at this years CES show to be held in Las Vegas 6th to 9th January.

Jonney Shih, chairman of Asus credited Apple with kick sta`rting the tablet market as he unveiled his new gadgets that all run on Google’s Android
operating system and Microsoft’s Windows 7.

Similarly Linovo showed a 10 inch android powered tablet that also runs Windows. It seems that over 80 tablets will unveiled at this years CES show

It seems that many of the devices shown will not make it to the market as the first test is their success at CES – with so many tablets being displayed, there is going to be a lot of competition.

It is expected that many of the tablets will actually be sold at below cost on the expectation that sales will be made of ebooks.

It appears that tablets are becoming smarter as the mobile technology allows for data to gathered and then more easily distributed. For instance body monitors pipe data they collect through exercise by phone to help people get
the most out of their workout.

Indeed, smartphone technology is shifting trends in consumer technology and
being found in cameras and googles worn by skiers and snowboarders.

Search Engine Marketing News | Meet Prezi, the new iPad app

Have you heard the latest Search Engine Marketing News? Have you seen or heard of Prezi? pee are eee zed eye .com. I heard about it first in Costa Rica a few weeks ago just before Christmas when I saw the presentation system in use, it’s great and works in surprising ways.

Well now it is available as an iPad app. So now you can show stunning presentations from your tablet.

Now I have to admit that I did buy the Keynote app and that is incredibly similar to PowerPoint – but it works on an iPad, whereas Prezi is just cool and radically different – and it works on an iPad…

PREZI itself is a start up and it seems to be based in Hungary – it has already raised capital from the TED Conferences and Sunstone Capital. It counts Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey amongst its advisers.

People from the World Economic Forum, Stanford University, Facebook, IBM and Google are all said to be Prezi users, and you can count me on that list.
